Culture crossing is what they definitely did and that's the category in which they won the BBC Radio 3 Awards 2007: Rai pioneer and grandmaster of the PianOriental Maurice El Medioni from Oran, Algeria, is a childhood hero of Khaled and featured guest on his last studio album. Latin super-drummer Roberto Rodriguez from Havana, Cuba, already played with everyone from Miami Sound Machine to Lester Bowie and "Cachao", via Joe Jackson and John Zorn. On invitation of PIRANHA Musik they met in New York for a "Descarga Oriental", dreaming of roots that never were.

The new CD of IBRAHIM FERRER in sale!
"Mi Sueno" (My Dream) is the last album recorded by the great Cuban vocalist and Buena Vista Social Club star, Ibrahim Ferrer. It is the project he dreamed of realising all his life - an album devoted to the most meltingly romantic of all Cuban styles - the bolero. The album was recorded in Havana with a wonderful small group including Roberto Fonseca, piano, Cachaito Lopez on bass and Manuel Galban on guitar.
